Chinese Yam Roast


  • Chinese Yam, peeled n sliced – 500gm
  • Red Chili powder – 1tsp
  • Garam Masala – 1tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1tsp
  • Amchur – 1tsp
  • Corn flour – 2tbsp
  • Oil – 3~4tbsp
  • Salt – 1tsp (adjust to your taste)
  • Asafoetida – 1pinch


  • Mix Chinese yam, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, amchur, corn flour, little oil, salt, asafoetida well
  • Allow it to marinate for 20~30min
  • Heat oil in a pan
  • Add the marinated Chinese yam, mix well so that oil coats every slice of yam
  • Slow cook in low flame, occasionally turn the Chinese yam slices so that yam is cooked and roasted as evenly as possible
  • Add little more oil, if required for the yam to roast well
  • Serve hot with any rice item
