Pirandai Thuvaiyal

Ingredients

  • Pirandai (Devil’s back bone) – 200gm
  • Channa Dhal – 1tbsp
  • Urad Dhal – 1tbsp
  • Curry leaves – 1bunch
  • Dry Red Chili – 6~8nos (adjust according to your spice level)
  • Tamarind, extract – 2tbsp
  • Coconut, grated – 2tbsp
  • Oil – 1tbsp
  • Asafoetida – 1pinch
  • Salt – ½tsp (adjust to your taste)

Method

  • Heat oil in a pan
  • Add pirandai and fry until soft, keep aside
  • Add channa dhal, urad dhal, dry red chili, curry leaves, asafoetida fry them well until fragrant
  • Lastly add coconut, mix well, switch off flame, allow it to cool
  • Grind all above into coarse paste
  • Add salt, mix well
  • Serve with curd rice
