Plain (layered) Paratha


  • Wheat flour – 3cup
  • Wheat flour – ¼cup (to be used while spreading)
  • Oil – 120ml
  • Salt – ¼tsp


  • Knead wheat flour with 10ml of oil and little oil into a soft dough
  • Allow it to rest for about 5min
  • Divide the dough into 8~10 pieces
  • Take a piece and roll like a thin chapatti, as thin as possible
  • Spread 2tsp of oil over the chapatti
  • Fold it into ½inch flaps, similar to paper fan


  • Roll it into a spiral as shown in above picture
  • Roll this into 6~7inch circle
  • Cook the paratha in a hot tawa, applying oil on both sides
  • Serve hot with any gravies
