Vazhaithandu Moor Koottu

Ingredients

  • Plantain Tree Stem (Vazhaithandu), finely chopped – 250gm
  • Yogurt – 2cup
  • Green Chili – 4~5nos (adjust to your spice level)
  • Ginger, cut – 5gm
  • Cumin – 1tsp
  • Coconut, grated – ½cup
  • Rice flour – 1tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – 1tsp
  • Asafoetida – 1pinch
  • Curry Leaves – 1bunch
  • Mustard – 1tsp
  • Coconut Oil – 1tbsp
  • Salt – 1tsp (adjust to your taste)

Method

  • Close cook plantain tree stem with little water, salt until they are soft
  • Grind coconut, ginger, cumin, green chili, turmeric powder along with curd into a fine paste
  • Add the ground paste to cooked plantain tree stem, mix well
  • Bring to a boil
  • Heat coconut oil in a pan
  • Add mustard, allow it to splutter
  • Add curry leaves, asafoetida, fry a bit
  • Add into koottu, mix well
  • Serve hot with rice
